Welcome

My name is Stephanie Gallon. All works here are my own unless otherwise stated. I am currently studying PGCE PCET, and I have ambitions of doing a PhD in the future. I am a published author, poet and fan of lycanthropy literature and the Gothic.

You can find me on Twitter and LinkedIn, or you can view my personal blog or writer’s site.

If you wish to contact me, email me at stephanie.ann.gallon@gmail.com with “Gothic and Academia” as the subject title. I do guest blogging requests.

I graduated with a Distinction in MA English Studies in 2015 from the University of Sunderland. The modules I completed included Irish Supernaturalism, Early Gothic, Literary Theory, and Modernism and Postmodernism. I also completed a 16,000 word dissertation on the evolution of the female werewolf in English literature from a feminist perspective, using Clemence Housman’s The Were-wolf, Angela Carter’s The Werewolf and Wolf-Alice, and Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga as case studies.

I graduated with First Class Honours in BA English and Creative Writing in 2014. The modules I completed included Shakespeare, Modern Gothic, Late Medieval Literature and Genre Fiction in my third year. In my second year I completed Reading and Writing Prose Fiction, Romanticism, Victorian Literature, Modern Poetry, Renaissance Literature and Literary Theory, History and Criticism. In first year, I completed modules on Stylistics, Lyrical and Narrative Poetry, Introduction to Creative Writing, Introduction to Literature I and Introduction to Literature II.

Also in my third year, I completed a 40 credit module which required me to complete an 8,000 word portfolio and 2,000 critical commentary. I wrote a prose piece of detective fiction accompanied by a critical essay on the conventions and tropes of modern crime fiction.
